J stands for "jack" and in general (although not always) refers
to the female connector. In a vertical card arrangement for a
VME type backplane, the female connectors are on the backplane

card arrangement for a VME type backplane, the male connectors

the next lower J2, and so forth.
What is ABG?
ABG stands for Automatic Bus Grant, which is a 96-pin DIN connector
with the additional provision of automatic mechanical busing of
VME daisy chain signals through empty card slots. This is provided
by mechanical switches internal to the 96-pin DIN connector. This
mechanical ABG is not available on the 160-pin (5 row) DIN connector
for VME64x; rather, an electrical version, Electronic Bus Grant
(EBG) can be used on VME64x backplanes.
What is EBG?
EBG stands for Electronic Bus Grant. EBG is implemented on 160-pin
(5 row) DIN VME64x backplanes to provide automatic gating of VME
daisy chain signals through empty card slots, provided by logic
chips that are part of the backplane assembly.

Does your Web site have pricing?
No, please contact Elma Bustronic for
pricing information.
What are the reference sheets and data sheets at the bottom
of most of the product pages?
The reference sheets offer reference information for VME and cPCI
related backplanes. Topics include specification pinouts, info
on stripline design, connector specification info, and more. The
data sheets offer more detailed information on each of Elma Bustronic's
backplanes and test accessories
I can't open the reference sheets or data sheets, what can
I do?
You probably don't have Adobe Acrobat and need to download it.
It is free software that is needed to read Adobe PDF files, which
is the format of our files. Go to any product page and click on

PDF file. After you click the icon, each click with the magnifying
glass cursor zooms in on that section of the page.
To make the PDF file smaller or zoom out, hold the control button
down while you click with the magnifying glass cursor. Each time
you click, the page gets smaller.
