NEW SLEEK
4-SLOT CPCI BACKPLANE FROM BUSTRONIC HAS SPECIAL SHELF MGMT OPTIONS
FREMONT, California, Sept. 17, 2003 - Bustronic Corporation, an
industry leading designer and manufacturer of high performance backplanes,
have announced a new slim 6U 4-slot CompactPCI (cPCI) backplane
with several special features.
Compliant with
the latest PICMG specifications, the 4-slot Low Profile cPCI backplane
offers a computer-simulated, eight-layer stripline design for high
performance. With the power studs and power blades dispersed throughout
key locations in the backplane, the overall width is a true 4-slot
size. This allows the backplane to fit within a 2U low-profile horizontal
chassis.
With optimal
power dispersion and distributed high and low frequency de-coupling
capacitors, the 6U 4-slot CompactPCI backplane delivers virtually
zero crosstalk. A unique feature of the backplane includes special
wiring for shelf management. Incorporated into a 20-pin header with
other signal functions are pins for the Intelligent Platform Management
Bus (IPMB) including IPMB_SCL 1, IPMB_SCL 2, IPMB_SDA 1, IPMB_SDA
2, IPMB_PWR 1, and IPMB_PWR 2. These connections are also usable
for the new IPM Sentry Shelf Manager from parent company Elma Electronic.
The IPM Sentry
goes beyond basic monitoring of voltages, fans, and temperature
by adjusting the speed of the fans, sending out remote alarms, maintaining
a System Event Log (SEL) along with a Sensor Data Record (SDR),
and collect information on the Field Replaceable Units. Nearly all
of Bustronic's future cPCI and ATCA backplanes will offer pluggability
to the IPM Sentry Shelf Manager. The modular backplane's 6/32 power
studs allow Bustronic's power interface boards to be hooked up to
the backplane that provide dual-redundant power supply swapping.
Bustronic also
offers a similar version of the 4-slot cPCI backplane that is compliant
to the PICMG 2.16 specification for packet switching applications. |
