NEW 6U VME64X BACKPLANE IN 5-SLOT SIZE

FREMONT, California, June 14, 2004 - Bustronic Corporation, an industry leading designer and manufacturer of high performance backplanes, has announced a new "classic" 6U VME64x backplane in a 5-slot size. Bustronic now offers 5-slot VME64x backplanes in both 6U and 7U sizes.

The new 5-slot VME64x backplane in 6U size is designed for applications that have tight space restraints. It also allows more room in the chassis for cabling, isolators for shock and vibration, or a fan tray below the card cage in certain chassis configurations The 7U VME64x backplane has an extra 1U of power bugs at the bottom of the backplane for higher current applications, conforming to the VITA 1.7 High Current specification. Also, in horizontal chassis orientations, the 7U backplane acts as a natural air baffle for side-to-side airflow configurations, assisting in the cooling efficiency of the unit.

The Classic 6U VME64x series features power taps for 3.3V, 5V, +/- 12V, and GND above and below the slots. The 6U "classic" VME64x line is offered in 5, 8, 12, 14, 19, and 21 slots. This compliments Bustronic's 7U offering, which comes in 2-21 slots. All of Bustronic's VME64x backplanes meet or exceed ANSI/VITA 1.1-1997, VME extensions standard and ANSI/VITA 1-1994 and IEEE P1014 specifications.

Features include 10-layer controlled impedance stripline design and active BUSGRANT, IACK daisy chaining. Backplane stiffeners are optional, which help prevent bowing, increasing the unit's durability and reliability.
