Bustronic & TreNew Share Resources

FREMONT, California, February 26, 2001 - Two of the most esteemed backplane companies in their respective countries, Bustronic and TreNew, will combine resources. Both companies are now a part of the Elma Electronic group, a leading electronics design and manufacturer headquartered in Wetzikon, Switzerland, and a member of the Swiss Stock Exchange (SSE). Elma acquired TreNew, headquartered in Germany, earlier this year. Bustronic, located in Fremont, California, has been a member of the Elma group since 1997.

The two backplane companies will combine several facets of their operations -- including production capabilities, engineering resources, volume purchasing, and shared product lines.

"We are very excited about Elma's acquisition of TreNew" commented Fred Hirsch, General Manager of Bustronic. "Bustronic and TreNew have always been highly respected for technical expertise. In sharing the two companies' innovations and resources, we will become an even larger player in the marketplace."

The acquisition was officially completed on January 1 of 2001. Over the next few months, the companies will work together implementing the resource sharing plans.

"By combining resources, our customers will benefit from the increase in cost savings, capacity, engineering resources, and product selection," said Mr. Hirsch.

Headquartered in Pforzheim, Germany, TreNew has manufacturing and engineering facilities in Germany, and a design center in Romania. The company offers backplanes in CompactPCI, VME, VME64x, VXI, and other bus structures, specializing in custom and telecom applications. Other products and services include power supplies, system accessories, and system integration.
